About
Qihang Zhang is currently a Research Assistant Professor at the Laser Metrology and Biomedicine (LAMB) Lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2023, followed by a postdoctoral training at Tsinghua University before joining CUHK in 2025. His research interest is in computational scattering optics, including physical models, advanced AI algorithms, and related applications in biomedical sensing and imaging. He has published his work in high-profile journals, including Science, Nature Communications, Light: Science and Applications, Optics Letters, etc.

Research Interest
Development of the statistical mechanism of optical scattering phenomena, including their wavelength, polarization, spatial distribution and quantum properties.
Development of AI+Physics algorithm for scattering related optical sensing and imaging tasks;
Development of advanced biomedical sensing and imaging systems for biomedical diagnosis, surgery and therapy;
