About

ZHANG received his B.S. in Department of Physics from Tsinghua University in 2018 and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2023 under the guidance of Prof. George Barbastathis. Following his Ph.D., he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Singapore-MIT Alliance of Research and Technology in 2023 and Tsinghua University in 2024. In June 2025, he joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at CUHK as a Research Assistant Professor. His current research interests involve the optical scattering phenomena and their related applications in biomedical imaging, material metrology and biosensing.

Research Interest

Development of the statistical mechanism of optical scattering phenomena, including their wavelength, polarization, spatial distribution and quantum properties.

Development of AI+Physics algorithm for scattering related optical sensing and imaging tasks;

Development of advanced biomedical sensing and imaging systems for biomedical diagnosis, surgery and therapy;
